Neck pain is a common problem for people who spend a lot of time at their computer desks. Whether you have an office job, use your computer for homework, or spend a lot of time playing games or browsing the web, spending hours sitting and looking at a screen can increase your risk of developing neck pain and other issues. Following these tips, including visiting our Tallahassee chiropractor, can help you prevent neck pain.

Maintain Good Posture

It’s easy to exhibit poor posture when sitting in from of a computer for long periods of time. That’s why neck pain is such a common issue for students and workers of all ages. Start with an ergonomic and comfortable desk chair so you can sit straight up and place both feet flat on the ground. Adjust your desk or use a computer stand so that you can keep your head level while looking at your screen, instead of having to look down or look up.

Get Up and Move Around

Even with good posture, it’s important to stand up and move your body periodically throughout the day. Make a goal to stand up and walk around or stretch a bit at least once every hour while you’re sitting at your computer desk. If possible, invest in a sit-to-stand desk that allows you to stand and work and switch between sitting and standing throughout the day.
